Why do most of the people in Kenya live in poverty their whole life wile others live their life in pleasure?

To answer my overall research question, i will try to find out

1. How does nature and geography affect the lives of people and how the live?
2. Why do some people immigrate to Kenya from different countries?
3. Does family history have anything to do with the success of the next generation?
4. Can low class people such as servants get a good education and become something of themselves?

I am not very familiar with this topic as of right now.  I only know very few things like "the country is mostly poor, and there are very few successful people.  I pretty much know nothing on the topic, so i am basically starting from scratch.
